Cadence
What Cadence stores, what it sends anywhere, and what it never does.
Last updated August 31, 2026
Cadence stores your tasks, focus sessions, habits, and reflections on your own device. There is no Cadence server, no account, and no analytics. The AI features run entirely on Apple's on-device model — nothing you type is ever sent to us or to any third party.
Tasks, focus session history, habit check-ins, reflections, and your preferences are stored locally using Apple's on-device storage frameworks. We never see this data — there is no Cadence backend it could be sent to.
When the AI layer is turned on, Cadence uses Apple's on-device model (part of Apple Intelligence) to help interpret what you type and to write your daily reflection summary. This processing happens on your device — the text you capture, and the journal entry you write, are never transmitted anywhere. On hardware without Apple's on-device model, Cadence falls back to parsing dates, durations, and priorities directly on your device; capture and scheduling always work fully offline either way.
Reflection history is never sent anywhere, in any form. Cross-day trends (like "mentioned feeling tired on 4 of the last 9 days") are calculated on your device from your own past entries, and only that short statement — never the entries themselves — is ever given to the on-device model, and only while reflection sharing is turned on.
If you turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your tasks, habits, and reflections sync across your own devices using your personal iCloud account, via Apple's CloudKit. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and is only ever accessible to you — Cadence has no access to your iCloud account or its contents. You can turn this off at any time.
If you grant calendar access, Cadence reads your existing calendar events only to avoid scheduling a task on top of something you already have — it never edits or deletes an event it didn't create. If you turn on calendar sync, Cadence creates one separate "Cadence" calendar and writes matching events there for tasks you schedule; it never writes to your personal or work calendars. Turning calendar sync off removes every event Cadence created.
Cadence is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since nothing you enter ever leaves your device (beyond your own iCloud account, if you turn sync on), there is nothing for us to collect from any user, of any age.
